Today marked a sad day - heading back to work. Don't get me wrong, I actually really like my job. And I didn't turn into a weepy mess leaving Darcy at "pre-school" (ie - daycare) for the day. She seems to have a good time, she's tired at the end of the day, and I get (pay for) a break from being a full time mommy. And let me tell you, Mars pays a lot better than Darcy for my time spent working.
Aside: I think having a job outside of the mom gig definitely makes me more appreciative of my time with Darcy - quality rather than quantity? And I don't start saying at 4pm, "where is your father already?!" when she gets fussy. Instead, I now get to say, "oh boy, only 30 minutes to get back to my sweet girl!" No judging or mommy war stuff here, that's just how it is for ME. Everyone's choices are valid, let's not fight amongst ourselves, all that PC crap, blah blah blah.
ANYWAY, the sad part of the day was all the crap stuff you feel when you've been off work for a while. Times almost 4 months. That's as bad as going back to school after summer vacation. The getting up early, the rush to get dressed and out the door, the rotten commute, finding a parking space, the lame meetings and phone calls, you know, the actual WORK? - bleech. Won't someone please realize that I am clearly a genius and need to be paid mucho dinero just for my very thoughts?! I could effortlessly wax brilliant on almost any topic from the comfort of my favorite armchair, wearing my red pajamas and eating Oreos. And of course, as Darcy begins to use real words, she could join me from her smaller armchair. She is clearly a brilliant girl - Darcy Jean-ious as we are beginning to call her. (We're not a bit biased either.) She has hour-long philosophical discussions with her bumblebee friends, it is truly staggering how much she gets across with just a well placed "oooo-OOO-oo" or a perfectly timed drool. Together, we would be unstoppable. No, no.... we SHALL be unstoppable.

This is my new spot to keep far-away people up to date. We've moved a lot since we got married in 2003 and have lots of family and friends spread around this big world. With baby on the way in September 2008, it's time to post pictures and ramblings so those we love can keep up with our crazy lives.
